Why so many troubles occur frequently between Korea and Japan?

This essay contains a personal opinion, and is one of the subjects for the starting point to discuss for the Far Eastern situation.

April 2019, the relationship between the Korean peninsula and Japan is bad. The situation at the edge of East Asia is clearly Japan isolated from this world.

The number of related countries in this region is three or five if excluding Russia. In this region, territorial issues exist among all countries, including Russia, and there are multiple countries where even the definition of the country is ambiguous. This situation is extremely rare in the world. The situation in the “Far East” far from developed countries is more complicated than the Dead Sea area, very unusual and full of danger. Currently, it is a miracle that artillery shells are not flying.

Recently, there are a lot of topics on the Korean peninsula.

North Korea possessed a nuclear missile and achieved negotiations with US President Trump. However, there is not much noticeable change after they shake their hands. No change in here may be a good sign. On the other hand, an invisible event may be in progress. North Korea never deals with Japan. On the other hand, it also seems to keep a grudge against the distant United States. The American people will not know why it is the field where they are born a grudge against by North Korea. People in the United States may accept that because of their strong force.

South Korea strongly hates Japan too. Many people in the world think that reason of that is the cause of ‘comfort women’ and ‘forced labor’ that Korea claims. Many people are receiving that people of South Korea are requesting Japanese compensation for them. The former existed in various forms even for a while after World War II unfortunately in the world, and Japan consigned to a local company of a local person like other countries at that time. As in other countries, the matter is considered to be in a situation where it is not possible to know how the job was offered by the vendor. It seems be common problem for the bender to pay money or not pay money.

In Japan, the latter is not considered to be the type of forced labor that Koreans claim.

At the work site, they received basically the same treatment as Japanese with Japanese. In Japan, the working environment was not good because of a lower cultural environment than the West, so it was hard for manual labor in the field, . Why were Koreans forced to work? That is because the Japanese government treated them like the Japanese people. Korea was under Japanese government at that time. Education and taxes and so on were treated the same as Japanese people under the Japanese system. A modernization policy was also implemented using Japanese funds on the Korean peninsula. As a result, there are now large financial groups for the prosperity of the people. Japan was, of course, in a position where it cannot say anything about the use of its compensation. Now Japan also has continued to support Korea with special international funds, etc.

After 70 years, South Korean people begin to claim that they have not received compensation from Japan. And the South Korean government has not commented on that, in spite of they had already received the compensation from Japan whitch is for South Korean people and also including compensation for North Korea’s people. In addition, before lawsuit of these problems, the Korean government also had received an additional fund from Japan by agreeing that the problem of the War have be  finally and irreversibly resolved as the  international treaty.

Why occur these troubles?

Korean people have the culture of ‘Han’. ‘Han’ is one of feelings. ‘Han’ starts from jealousy enviable. ‘Han’ is envy. And it seems to arise when oneself failed for another person having succeeded. ‘Han’ starts from envy and changes to harboring resentment and angry.

The ‘Han’ to Japan has been embedded in various Korean social systems in order to bring the people around to share. Education first. As a result, coworkers for angry were increased systematically. Shared angry of people makes it even unpleasant to see related things, and they begin to erase fact. And finally overwrite fact to their desired content.

The targets of erase is not only historical remains but also historical facts. At this point, the neighboring country can not do anything. When aiming at friendship between nations, education to instill antipathy is a major obstacle. South Korea’s education, which has been implemented for many years, is achieve great results. Korea, which claims Han’s culture, is similar to the scorpion and frog allegory. Korea is a scorpion and will eventually die with the frog caught. Their basic nature makes to be sharpening, rather than to be mild, in their internationalization process. Looking at successful outside countries, the emergence of ‘Han’ culture is likely to be stronger.

However, for Korea, the West is a far superior world to Japan compared to Japan. So, for the time being, they will not require to the West yet.

From all of these, Korea can not be a good rival because of their nature. If they loss, they accuse winner with all method and eventually takes away with whatever means. If they win, they rob from loser completely. From the upper ranks, they take away by all means, and from the lower ranks, they take it as a matter of course. They seem to think that victory over rivals is not achieved by effort but by destruction of rivals. They can argue that the laws and rules are illegal for their purpose. That is their culture “Han”.

However, even if ‘Han’ is called a culture unique to the Korean peninsula, its history is shallow and modern. From another point of view, it resembles the feelings of a spoiled child. Therefore, the energy potential of this culture does not seem high. In other words, infection of this culture is easy. In a world where populism is spreading, it can not be said that ‘Han’ culture will not spread the world. The ‘Han’ culture also seems to have a contradictory direction when compared to the work the UN is having originally done to be a peaceful world. In any case, an international conflict that may occur between origin small peninsula and the infected small island in the near future may be regarded by future historians as a conflict between the world’s first ‘Han’ cultural countries.

Currently, Korea is attacking Japan at multi levels. One of the causes of Japan’s entering the World War II is believed to be the ABCD siege. Rat in a desperate situation also bites a cat.
